Interactions with Online Media Content and Memory

Samantha Barbosa, PhD student

In partnership with the Child Memory Lab at Wilfrid Laurier University, we are inviting children between the ages of 7-12 years old and one of their parents or guardians to participate in a study about how children interact with online media content and their memory of those interactions. The purpose of this study is to better understand the relationship between online content interactions and the factors that may affect children’s memory.

We are expecting to recruit between 30-40 children and one parent/guardian. Children must be between the ages of 7-12 years old. Eligible participants must speak and read English and must be able to communicate verbally.

The study includes two in-lab sessions which will be carried out at Wilfrid Laurier University, in the Child Memory Lab. Before the first visit, you will be asked to complete a questionnaire which will take no more than 25 minutes. The first visit will be 25-30 minutes and the second visit will occur 2-3 days later and will be 30-40 minutes. The children will interact with online content and will complete a few fun tasks with me, the researcher!

Parents/Guardians will receive compensation of a $50 Amazon or Indigo e-gift card for their children's participation.
